home · Love You More

I’ve written about this topic before, probably because I know how important it is in our marriage: date night. How many times do you make it a priority to do something special with your S.O.? It’s not as easy as it sounds (or as easy as writing a fun idea on your calendar), but it is so worth it (read: necessary).

Jordan and I just got back from an impromptu date night out for burgers and silly conversation, and man, it’s so meaningful. We get to really connect and dig into the deeper topics we don’t always get time to discuss, which is especially important as we begin the home building process and getting geared up to start our family.

Not every date night requires stilettos and a five course meal, but the point remains the same: disconnect from the rest of the world to get closer to your honey. Here are some of our favorite date night ideas to get you started!

This one is so much fun for us! I love rounding up our favorite movie candy, popping some popcorn, and settling in for a double feature of something scary and something silly. It’s wonderful if you’re trying to hold back your funds for something big (house, car, baby, vacation, etc.) and the key part is to stay in so you can laugh, talk, and say the things you always want to say while you’re in the theater!

This one may come as a surprise, but volunteering together is something you can do to give back to causes you’re both passionate about and grow event closer in your relationship. Plus, you get to learn even more about your spouse than you did before– volunteering always helps me get to know Jordan’s heart in a new way, which is why this is one of my favorite ways to spend our date nights together.

Some recipes are especially difficult, and it’s nice to bring your partner into baking battle with you. What better way to spend your date night than baking your dessert or some treats to share? It’s so much fun to mess around with the recipe and see what you two come up with together, and it helps you learn more about each other in a low-pressure, high-fun environment. (If you’re short on ideas, come over to my Pinterest and check out this board!)

I hope you get a fun date night with your sweetie soon!
