Earth Day isn’t just about tree-hugging and taking extreme measures to preserve the environment (though those aren’t bad options!). Take a look at some of these inexpensive and simple changes you can make in your daily life to celebrate Earth Day and to take steps towards becoming more environmentally conscious.
Whether it’s in your office, in your garden, or in a pot on your balcony, choose something green and gorgeous and get your hands dirty! Check out my favorite low-maintenance choice that’s great for those who are still cultivating that green thumb:
Change Your Lightbulbs
This is a small but important way to save energy and slash your electricity bill (plus, bonus: you won’t have to change your lightbulbs nearly as often!). Make the switch to these eco-friendly lightbulbs that come in a variety of color temperatures and watt equivalencies.
Skip the beef or chicken in favor of a few more leafy greens today (and perhaps more often). Not only does skipping meat preserve our resources, it’s a great dietary move: leafy greens, raw veggies, and fruit are all micronutrient-rich, light in calories, and delicious. I love this Citrus Salad with Fennel Vinaigrette that packs a flavorful punch.
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
This is a no-brainer and a great way to cut down on your consumption of plastic and cardboard in your daily life. I love this glass water bottle because it’s a great portable size and as gorgeous as it is functional. If you’re a Southern gal who can’t live without sweet tea, this cheeky tumbler is for you! And for those of you who can’t get enough coffee, check out this thermal mug for your daily fix.
